I actually really liked this one, but I do still agree with your points. I couldn't stand those gold people, they were unnecessary pests after the first 10 minutes. I did however enjoy the scenes between Yondu and Rocket though, their connection was interesting to me, also a good way to dive a little more into a character that has very little background. I also found it kind of funny how Yondu went from being a bit of a pest like the gold people to me in the first movie to being someone I sympathized with and valued in the second.

I have to disagree with Jeremy, this was probably one of my favorite Marvel movies

    TOBLERONE TUBE 16 days ago

Here's the problem. Everyone expects Jeremy to always have the perfect opinion because he's a movie reviewer, but he's no different to any of us. He has to have differing opinions just as we do. The best two ways of finding out whether or not a movie is good or not is if the majority of the people who've seen it liked it then it's probably good, or you can just see it yourself and make your own opinion. I mean, what else would have made him give Suicide Squad a fucking "Buy it on Blu Ray"? The only thing that would make me consider buying that piece of shit would be if I needed to wipe my ass with something even more disposable than toilet paper.

Honestly I personally liked Vol .2 Better than the First one. It developed and Gave more Humanity to its Charcters. Even Characters that we thought were just Assholes in the First one like Yondu and Nebula. It had Just as much Fun and Comedy as the first one. Espically with Baby Groot. And the Villian was a lot stronger. Ego was a better and more developed Villian than Ronan

I might be the only one who thinks so, but I loved when he became Pac Man during that Superman 2 moment. Funny as hell and fit in with Star Lords personality, like of course that's what hed do, his power form would be Pac Man for that moment. Might be just me though. And the Gold People made me laugh every time they came into a battle. Obviously they sucked as villians, but I loved the way that basically everyone looked at them as a joke. Basically everyone was like 'Oh how cute, you guys think your so much better than everyone, that's adorable.'

I understand why it was done but one thing that really kind of bugged me is that he lost his powers at the end. Now, as a plot device it works because it just ruins a whole bunch of future story telling if he kept those powers. It'd also alter the ending. But, it was a major plot point that Starlord had the powers inside of himself. It's thewhole reason Ego needed him. So, why the hell does killing Ego remove those powers from Starlord...? The power quite literally was within himself. He IS a celestial (MCU version) and should still be all...celestial-y.

The writing there just didn't make sense to me.

I kind of want to see perhaps in Infinity War part 2, a scene where one of the characters actually gets to talk to Stan Lee, the One Above All. It would probably be Iron Man, because of his visions of all the Avengers dead in Age of Ultron.

It wasn't so much Yondu's death that made me cry, but when they started playing "Father and Son" by Cat Stevens I just completely LOST it and bawled my eyes out. That song is one of like, three songs in existence that make me cry every time I listen to it, and boy did they hit the nail on the head with it. I really liked this movie. Yeah, it wasn't as good as the first one, but I still enjoyed it a whole lot!

I think the fact that Star Lord is still alive but loses his power because his dad died is a contradiction. By that same rule shouldn't Star Lord be dead or at the least be having some kind of issue existing? How is he still alive when half of his DNA is magic infused? A magic that relies on his dad/ the planet existing?

Maybe there's something wrong with me but I didn't love the first one. I felt like I could see right through it to the white board and the checklist and the room full of Disney executives reading reports from focus testing.

The second Volume could have been subtitled: "Emotional Exposition" as every character had a corny and manipulative emotional confession to make. No one spoke like real people and everything felt packaged.

I did love the visuals though. Really attractive looking movie.

The Nebula/Gomorrah conflict was really forced and also really hastily resolved. Nebula spends 2/3rds of the movie blindly trying to kill her sister, and then stops once she has a guaranteed chance to kill her. For no *real* reason at all. And then they're friends.

Also, I would've imagined a near omniscient being who's existed for millions of years to have a better plan than "turn planets into me lol". He's already got a planet, why does he give a shit if he has a few more? And why isn't he very good at fighting? He's a whole planet, so why is he overpowered by a guy with 2 pistols and an afternoon's worth of demigod training?

I liked this spoiler review, but I spent almost the whole time wondering when you'd talk about how brilliantly perfect Yondu was, and you never did. I could (and, I guess, should) type up a whole thesis on how wonderful that character's development progressed in the movie; especially how much we learned about him and ultimately how traumatic his fall was.

    Louis Wilkerson 1 month ago

The Pac Man joke is the one that was so sour and out of place. This final fight is happening, and all Quill mentions is that he wants to make a statue. That scene between Ego and Peter also feels off, but could have been much better if they talked like human beings. Ego gives some appropriate exposition, and Peter either responds to the fact that he has celestial powers, or goes on about his mother, and in those important scenes does not change from one of those two responses, which greatly reduces the character potential we saw in the first film. I do love this movie and see so much more fun with it, but that is still a significant flaw in this film I cannot ignore or leave unsaid.

In my opinion, both Guardians of the Galaxy films are leagues above every other Marvel movie. The action sequences are slightly worse, but the humor and heart land much more consistently and they're more cohesive as their own thing. I've enjoyed all the MCU films, but most of them at this point feel like prequels to the next Avengers whereas the Guardians films are awesome in their own right. Jeremy's issues with the films don't feel like issues in context. He does good reviews, but I seldom agree with him.

Imagine you have a hose pouring water into a bucket. Then you take a cup and fill it with water from the bucket.
The cup has water now, but only because it could draw it from the bucket.

Now imagine you kink the hose and cut a hole in the bucket. No more water goes in and you could only keep filling the cup until all the water drains out.

Ego is the hose and the bucket; he produces power that can be drawn from by either him or the cup.
Peter is the cup; he can draw water from the bucket, but he can't make it himself.

When Ego's core is destroyed, Peter can still be a cup, a human/Celestial hybrid that might have some special powers, but he isn't ever going to be the hose a bucket, a near all powerful being that can produce and control vast amounts of energies on his own.

These CGI attack commandos annoy the hell out of me. The technology works and I think it's pretty damn impressive. However I will say that these younger CGI impressions of Robert Downey, Kurt Russel and Bruce Willis ( Looper ) don't capture what the actors truely looked like when they were younger. It's a great depiction of general youth, but doesn't reflect the accuracy. For instance Robert Downey still had sharp cheekbones and spikey hair as a youth. But in Civil War his young face is designed differently. It's not a negative just something I wish they'd try to incorporate more. They did pull off a good Carrie Fisher though.....that was totally her. But most Star Wars stories are based on her youth anyway so they had to maintain her exact look I guess.

    • Michael Dromes

To some extend he is wrong (and right), critics usually are specially educated in this form of art/media, to be able to analyze each element that makes movie a movie. If majority of critics say thing "A" is well made in the movie and JJ says it's poorly made, it's almost safe to say he's wrong. Sorta like 99% of scientists believe Earth is older than 6 000 years old based on their studies, and 1% thinks it's only 6k years old. Then again, Jeremy might not be THAT educated, rather a lucky entertainer who's amateurish reviews gained popularity, in which case it is only an opinion. Who knows.
