What a smart move by Sullivan to put the speedy Hagelin on the ice in the final, in anticipation of chasing down a puck for an empty net goal. And so fitting that the arrogant, me-first Subban was on the ice and couldn't catch up to Hagelin. He simply gave up.

i love the penguins and have for a long time, but respect the hell out of the predators. i do think the penguins still would've won even if we hadn't caught the lucky break on that whistle. it sucks it happened, but there were still a lot of opportunities for the predators to score. i guess it's easy for me to say though since i'm not a nashville fan. what a year for both clubs anyway though!

I think that the NHL, went a little bit TOO FAR, in selecting John Tortorella of the Columbus Blue Jackets, for the Jack Adams Trophy, as NHL Coach of the Year. I just can't understand why the League would give this award, to the coach of a team, who had their butts kicked by being soundly eliminated, in the Wales Conference Quarter Finals. Now, if there is ONE MAN, who truly deserves that award, is of course MIKE SULLIVAN. In his first full year as Head Coach, he took the magnificent PITTSBURGH PENGUINS, to the glorious crowning of their first back-to-back Stanley Cup triumph, since the 1991-92 season. So in my book, MIKE SULLIVAN is the REAL Coach of the Year in the NHL. Not John Tortorella.

My PENGUINS have so beautifully dominated, the LAST 2 games of the Stanley Cup Final, that not ONE SINGLE GOAL, was scored on them. All the credit for this brilliant achievement, should go to Mighty Matt Murray. Our invincible MAN OF STEEL, who defended our fortress brilliantly, by neutralizing every horrific shot, which those Parasites constantly bombarded on him. For the record, the final OFFICIAL GOAL of the 2016 - 2017 NHL hockey season, scored by those barbaric Trashville savages, came courtesy of FILIP FORSBERG, unassisted at 16:37 of the 3rd period of Game 4, which according to the original game plan, was supposed to
have resulted in a PENGUINS VICTORY.

I just learned that Marc Andre Fleury, has been designated as the NEW GOALKEEPER, of the expansion team, LAS VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS. On behalf of all Penguins fans, including myself, we wish our friend the very best with the team from the GAMBLING CAPITAL OF THE UNITED STATES.

    • George Vila
      George Vila 8 days ago

Despite the fact, that we gave those filthy Country Music geeks, a FREE VICTORY in Game 3, according to the original game plan, the Parasites, deliberately STOLE Game 4, from my PENGUINS. Plain and simple.

    • George Vila
      George Vila 8 days ago

I am sure that many PENS fans, including myself, are profoundly saddened by the departure, of our wonderful and warmhearted goalkeeper, MARC ANDRE FLEURY. We wish him the very best of luck in his new environment, on the condition that he does not show his loyalty, towards one of the 3 cancer-infested diseases : The Dirty Ducks,
the barbaric Rangers and the Trashville Parasites.

I can't seem to understand why the first goal of this game being disallowed apparently cost the preds their season. They had chance after chance and failed. Here are some areas of concern:

    1- Didn't win a road game.

I'm sorry, but Pekka Rinne vanished to the nether realm when it came to this series. Pens were sooooo out played in game 1, yet he let up shot after shot. The refs are not at fault for this area, the preds simply failed to make it happen on away ice.

    2- Where's Rinne?

When your goaltender can only do well on home ice, that's saying something. I believe he was pulled in 2 out of the 3 away games? Or maybe even 3 out of 3. One of the two.

    3- Refs

After this last disallowed goal that everyone is freaking about, remember that there was the Dallas Stars and Buffalos Sabres. Does anyone remember that? The most controversial goal of the Stanley cup where the Dallas player was inside the blue paint (that literally cost them the cup)? Even after a review they didn't get if. Preds should count their blessings that they got so many chances, calls, and missed calls throughout this entire game, which the Buffalo Sabres did not.

    4- Rules

It's in the rules. Sorry, nothing you, I, or the refs could do. Saying that he did this on purpose is an entirely quick and emotional call. Let the man live. We will probably see a rule change for this specific play.

Cheers to the preds, but please, if you make the cup next year, don't blame every single game you lose on the refs. You'll win it someday.

2EpicPeeps Look I know you're bitter that WE won and your team didn't, but to try and troll someone for celebrating what his team accomplished is just making you look like a jealous sore loser even more. You're not one of the players, who refereed to US (the residents of Pittsburgh) as part of the team. You weren't there, you can't say we had nothing to do with it, because the players themselves said of course the support from the fans helped. THEY included US as part of it, so yeah, I think I can use "our" and "we" as much as I please. You're downplaying OUR championship, but definitely wouldn't be if it was your sorry team. Go be salty and hate on us somewhere else. You just look like a bitter hater.

Leafs fan here. This playoffs was certainly one to remember. After the Caps won in the first round, I started to route for the Ducks. When they got eliminated, I wanted the Pens to win so bad, and they did. Although I have ripped on Nashville a lot this playoffs, I still respect how far they've come as a team. On the other hand, I am super happy for Pittsburgh and all of Pittsburgh's fans for back to back cups. The pens now replace Chicago as my 3rd favourite team.

Good luck next season everyone. Welcome to the NHL Vegas Golden Knights, and until next time, Go Maple Leafs, Ducks, and Penguins.

I think had the first goal counted, the Pens would have used their coach's challenge for goalie interference.  Forsberg looked like he hooked Murray's skate and drug him out of position.  Not sure how the league would have viewed it though...very similar to the Hornqvist goal in my mind...Still, congrats to the champs!

Keagan Adams-Smith : Thumbs down, buddy. To win the Conn Smythe trophy, a player has to play ALL 16 PLAYOFF GAMES, according to the
policy of the National Hockey League, in order to be eligible as a candidate for M.V.P. honours. Crosby, played all 16 games during this
post-season, so he rightfully gets the Smythe trophy. Not Guentzel, who
played LESS THAN 16 playoff games.

For everyone complaining about the early whistle, think about it this way: There's no way Nashville would win game 6 at Pittsburgh anyway, Murray is insane there + Pens play 5x better at home. Also the ref made the right call, he couldn't see the puck + he thought Murray had it so he had to blow the play dead. Kinda feel bad for Preds fans but it was the right call to make.

I'm not a fan of either team, and I'm also a ref, but holy that was a huge missed call. To be fair he called it the way he was supposed to given what he was seeing, but if he was a stride or two closer to the net he would've not blown the play dead. Yea i've heard the "refs gave the preds 5 pp opportunities" does not matter, refs should have called those penalties regardless of what happened before. This game would be completely different had that goal counted, also I don't enjoy those bandwagon fans who decided to post a bunch of Ls on the preds pages. Not all pens fans are like this, hell I know a bunch of preds fans are bandwagoners too, but it doesn't paint a pretty picture for your fan base. Also Crosby did not deserve the Smyth, Murray definitely, Sid's very talented, but after the whole water bottle and head smashing it just doesn't seem right

I'm not going to deny that Matt Murray and the penguins played an outstanding game (and series), but that whistle should never have been blown. Smashville got robbed of what should have been a good goal. Unfortunately, this Stanley cup will always be remembered for the win partly due to a technicality that should NEVER have happened. I'll always love hockey, so I will say congrats to the penguins (I guess).

So I'm going to give you Nashville fans a quick lesson on the rules since most of you just starting watching hockey last year when your team got good. By rule, if the ref loses sight of the puck he is supposed to blow his whistle. Is he in the best position? No. Was it a correct call? No. Was it the right call to make for the circumstances that referee faced. Yes.

Moving forward from your bitchfest over that call to the next bitchfest: Goaltender interference on the Penguin's goal. Watch the recap right here you can see it like 3 times. As the announcers were trying to make it sound like he made contact with a pad, he never did. He made contact with Rinne's stick for a millisecond as he was playing the puck. Rinne is never hindered by that minuscule contact and continues to play his position. Every move was his own trying to save the puck. It was a good goal and a correct challenge result.

Next we need to address something before you cry more about the refs "favoring" the Pens. That game after the whistle blow was laid out on a silver platter for Nashville. Not only did you have a couple 1v1 breakaways with Murray that you couldn't score on, you were given every powerplay in the game and even had 30 seconds of 5 on 3. I'm not crying like you guys do over it I'm just saying that's how the game progressed. The Penguins never saw a powerplay and still scored. While Nashville had 4 powerplay chances and had a final score of 0. That's not the refs, that's not the NHL being rigged. That's the Predators not showing up to play.

Finally we need to talk about sportsmanship. Never in all my years have I seen a bunch of spoiled brats throw that big of a tantrum over losing. As soon as the horn sounded the fans booed continuously (only stopping to cheer their team as they skated off.) In addition, they threw assorted items on the ice throughout the ceremony and chanted "Crosby sucks" and "Pens you suck." How immature do you have to be to even do that? For example in '09 when the Pens returned to Detroit and defeated the Red Wings those fans applauded them and were respectful for the ceremony. Last year, the Sharks shared the same composure applauding the Cup presentation and leaving their trash off the ice.

While the players played their hearts out the fanbase of Nashville showed how much they do not deserve to have the Stanley Cup in their city. End of rant.
