The earlier 500e's were actually faster due to stricter emission standars
after 92 i think. A 91' 500e should do 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds, upper 4s
and lower 5s if you tune it for a 1st gear start and add a traction control
button to turn it off. The traction control (ASR) limits the power during a
kickdown, so eliminating it can decrease times a decent bit, especially
with proper tires.

Author ChristianCohn ( ago)
@Atca09 Thats Wrong, the official number measured by a light-barrier to
REAL 100km/h - NOT lame km/h after Speedometer - is between 6.0 and 6.3
Seconds. This depends on various Factors like weight, wheels, your right
foot and especially how good the early Mercedes ASR is limiting torque. The
Facelift2/MOPF2 1993 Models without WOT and only 320 instead of 326HP, even
has 0.1 Seconds less from 0-100km/h. Of course Personal Figures are
Different, my 1992 makes 5.9 secs when believing the speedo.

the 1994 E500 does 5.6 seconds 0-100km the 92-93 500E does 6.0 flat 0-100km
It also depends on the driver, these guys had a bad start and the camera
was shaking

Here I can do the same ;) Please enter this into the search field of
youtube, thats pure power ;) Gib das mal in das Youtube Suchfeld ein: 1987

Author DonRaul99 ( ago)
Should not. A 1994 sl500 has 320hp and weights about 2 tons! =6,25kg/hp A
1993 E500 has 326hp and weights 1,7 tons. =5,21kg/hp

The 126 500sel have the old V8 version called M117

Author acalthu ( ago)
I have no idea really. I can't find any exact figures on it, not even when
I was in the UK, where I bought this from. Next year I will be travelling
to the US, so maybe I will get more information there.

Author marvinbenz ( ago)
do you know how many E36 were produced?

Author acalthu ( ago)
that's is quite alright. i too stumbled upon this secret quite by accident.
always happy to help a fellow benz fan. BTW i've got an E36 W124 myself.
not quite the rocket the E60 is but still very nice.

Author marvinbenz ( ago)
An apology is in order, you were indeed correct.

Author marvinbenz ( ago)
For the 1993 and 1994 model years, a small number of 500E/E500 sedans were
outfitted with a 6.0L M119 V8 engine by tuner AMG. These models were called
the "E60 AMG" and produced up to 400 hp (298 kW). The E60 AMG carried a
381BHP engine which helped the car accelerate to 60 MPH in 5.3 seconds[3] -
compared to the 500E's claimed 5.9 seconds. Modifications included the
replacement of the original components with AMG parts, including the
suspension, exhaust system, and instrument cluster.

Author acalthu ( ago)
Spam detector won't late me post links :( I'll PM them to you

Author acalthu ( ago)
Actually it *is* correct. AMG did come out with an AMG version of it called
the E60, with some early cars marked as 500E-60. Here are some scans of a
German magazine article. If the links don't work for you I'll email them.
And also one for sale. Links to follow.

Author acalthu ( ago)
I was referring to the AMG W124s prior to AMG becoming part of the Mercedes
Benz. There indeed was an AMG version of the 500E, it's uber rare. They
were more powerful than the W210 series E55s.

Author marvinbenz ( ago)
Thats incorrect,The 500E had a dual camshaft 32-valve V8 engine naturally
aspirating 322 hp (240 kW) and 480 N·m (354 ft·lbf), with the engine being
derived from the R129 500SL roadster. That was way before the E50 of 96 or
E55 of 98 with AMG logos.

Author acalthu ( ago)
Different engine. and it's 500E. afaik they never got the E500 designation.
The first AMG models were called 500E-60 but a few did come as E60.

Author Pioneer53 ( ago)
I dont know. I thougt they are both different engines. but i am not sure

Author bentleyv8t ( ago)
yeah, but in stock condition is it the same engine as the 500sel?

Author Pioneer53 ( ago)
No The 500SEL is about 250HP The E500 in this video has 320HP

Author bentleyv8t ( ago)
does it have the same v8 as the one in a W126 500SEL? urgently need to know
