Troye Sivan Sends Message of Hope l 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards

  • Troye Sivan accepts GLAAD’s Stephen F. Kolzak Award at the 28th annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on April 1. His powerful acceptance speech resonated with all who heard it as Sivan honored LGBTQ activists like Bayard Rustin, Edie Windsor, and Marsha P. Johnson and left the audience with the empowering words: “don't let anyone strip you of your truth and love because those are the foundations of who we are as a community." Carly Rae Jepsen and Justin Tranter presented.

    He calls 2 "transwomen" the "godmothers of the Stonewall riot." One, Sylvia Rivera, was a violent criminal who wasn't present at Stonewall. The other, Marsha Johnson, was a psychotic homeless person who was there, but who did no more than hundreds of other people. This is what happens when you allow ideology to overwhelm factual inquiry.
